Live Bass Trainer for Your Audio Interface

Plug your bass guitar into an audio interface and play the notes on screen: exact-pitch scoring in your browser, a 60-minute daily plan, wait or tempo modes.

No audio interface? Play-along mode loops a genre riff with drums and needs no microphone; it is not scored. Demo mode lets you tap the on-screen neck through the pitch detector.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the live bass trainer hear my bass?

Plug the bass into the instrument (Hi-Z) input of an audio interface and choose that interface as the input in your browser. Pitch is detected in the browser itself; the audio is never uploaded.

Does an out-of-tune note still count?

A note counts only when its exact pitch is played, and by default the octave must match too. The tolerance can be set to ±25, ±40 or ±50 cents. When the note is right but sharp or flat, the trainer tells you by how many cents so you can retune.

What is in the 60-minute daily plan?

Open strings, chromatic drills, scales, arpeggios, octaves, note hunts, genre grooves from the riff library and Anatolian makam lines in aksak 9/8, in wait or tempo mode with automatic speed-up.

Will brushing a string or a ringing string count as a wrong note?

No. A string still ringing under the next pluck does not hide the new note, and touches more than 20 dB quieter than your recent plucks are ignored, so moving your hand is not scored as a mistake.

Can I use it without an audio interface?

Yes, in two ways with different limits. Play-along mode loops a genre riff with drums and shows its notes and TAB while you follow on your own bass or just listen; it needs no microphone or interface, and nothing is scored. Demo mode sends the notes you tap on the on-screen neck through the same pitch detector, so you can see how scoring works. Note-by-note scoring of your real bass needs the interface.

Does play-along time count as practice?

Partly. Play-along minutes are logged apart from scored time and shown as played along, not scored. They stay out of the 60-minute daily hour, and up to 15 minutes a day count toward your practice streak. The log is kept in your browser.
